One of the unique features we have here at Memory Lane is our
My curiosity was piqued a few years ago when I readthis
articleon keyhole gardening.
Keyhole gardens are designed to assist people living
in very dry climates to grow spectacular gardens with very little water. In some remote regions people have to carry water daily from quite a distance.
Keyhole gardens are 6 feet round by design, with a
notch or keyhole cut into the circle.
If you have visited
Memory Lane Photo Spot you have seen our tiny houses.
What is a tiny house?
Misconceptions abound! Let’s start with what a tiny house isNOT.
A tiny house is not a shed, it’s not a “cuartito” (small room) and it’s
not a children’s play house.
A tiny house is a
fully functional but tiny sized home.
Most tiny houses are less than 500 square feet. They are designed to be a full time dwelling
for one or two people.
This historic home is
100 yrs old! It is very unusual to find
homes of this age in our area. While the
exact date of the building is not known, it is believed to be built between
1912 and 1915. Think for a moment about
what else was happening in the world at that time. The Titanic took its ill fated maiden voyage in
1912. In 1913 Woodrow Wilson was inaugurated
as president. And sadly, 1914 saw the
beginning of WWI.
Many of the large
windows which adorn the home are original.
